Female athletes of the year 2011 : Karuna Bhandari



As stated on Republica national daily on Friday December 2011 “The Week” special edition of  the year 2011 the young Nepalese womens cricketer Karuna Bhandari was named female athletes of the year 2011 for her mystical performance in ACC womens T20 cricket championship slated here at Kuwait from 18 -25 Feburary 2011 where Nepal lost semi’s clash against  Hongkong  and ended their championship campaign by holding consolating 4th position in their Final 3rd /4th place playoff against Thailand.

Hats off to Karuna’s Hatrick
Five wicket Haul in Final 3rd 4th playoff against Thailand at KEC ground gave Bhandari to taste her first ever international hatrick in twenty twenty career by dismissing three consecutive Thai player.This was 2nd hatrick in the history of Nepalese cricket after RUBINA CHHETRY achieved the hatrick feat as a first Nepali player.Despite Karu’s hatrick Nepal although lost with Thailand at 3rd spot playoff.Bhandari became the idol cricketer as Nepal secured its birth in ACC ASIA CUP women’s cricket by reaching semifinal in ongoing tournament.Womens Asia cup will be slated at Guangzhou China 2012 A.D.
